Every kid is precious and deserves the access to quality education!
Under our ‘Beyond School’ project, we adopted a government-aided primary school in one of the remote areas in Dehradun. The school has a total of 30 students and 1 teacher. Under this program, we help children inculcate life skills that are as important as academics.
Some glimpses of the fun time with our children...
While the school has a well-structured education curriculum, there is still a huge potential to organize activities to promote the mental and psychological growth of students. Through these activities, we want to make them learn other important life skills such as good manners, teamwork, unity, self-respect, sharing, responsibility, and many more.
Beyond School is our pilot project, and we are excited to create fun and learning for children in the school. The intent is to promote the overall development of these children.
Food & Essentials distribution drive
We had just spent six weeks with the kids when the Covid-19 situation brought the whole country to a standstill. However, our volunteers kept in contact with the school to keep a check on the kids. We were made aware of the struggle that the families of these kids were going through because most of the families depend on daily wages, so it became really difficult for them to make ends meet.
We immediately decided to support the families by providing them with some essentials. Also, this allowed us to see the children again! Apart from the essentials, we also wanted to giveaway some storybooks, board games, and puzzles for the kids, but due to the lockdown, we couldn’t get the supply. But as soon as we get the supply, we will distribute them amongst the children. We are proud of our volunteers who have made this possible.
Books & Stationery Distribution Drive
Finally, the lockdown was relaxed, and we received the stationery that we couldn’t distribute in our last visit to the school. As always, our field volunteers were excited to meet the kids, so they visited the school and handedover the stationery to them.
The Writers' Era and BATS initiative
Writers Era came into existence in December 2019, and within two weeks in business, we decided to start our volunteer activities in the school. We are very passionate about the vision that we have for our school project. We are a small start-up, but we have the determination to spread some happiness amongst the kids through our school project. If you have any suggestions for us, please write to us at [email protected]
